Free Forklift Training Gap Check
Not sure which training your operators require?
GH Training offers a free initial review to help employers identify the likely training route based on their equipment, operator history and workplace duties.
The review is intended for businesses across the North West, North Wales and West Yorkshire. There is no obligation to book training.
What the Review Can Help Clarify
During the review, we can discuss:
- Equipment categories used at your workplace
- Number of operators
- Previous training and available records
- Practical operating experience
- New or changing job roles
- Refresher and reassessment needs
- Conversion between equipment categories
- Workplace familiarisation
- Loads and attachments
- Shift and production requirements
- Manager or supervisor training
- Suitable next steps
The review provides initial guidance based on the information supplied. A final course recommendation may require additional evidence or assessment.
Which Training Route Might Apply?

What Happens Next?
After receiving the form, GH Training will review the information and contact you to discuss:
- Operator experience and training history
- Equipment categories
- Workplace duties
- Any records available
- Possible course levels
- Practical training requirements
- Suitable next steps
If the information is incomplete, we may ask for photographs of equipment information plates, copies of previous training evidence or further details about the work being performed.
The Review Is Guidance, Not Operator Certification
The Training Gap Check does not:
- Qualify an employee to operate equipment
- Replace formal operator training
- Replace practical assessment
- Authorise an operator to work
- Confirm compliance with every employer duty
- Replace a workplace risk assessment
It helps identify the likely training route so that the employer can make an informed decision.
Equipment We Can Discuss
The review can cover:
- Counterbalance Forklifts
- Reach Trucks
- Pivot Steer Forklifts
- Multidirectional Forklifts
- Pedestrian Pallet Trucks
- Vertical Stock Pickers
- MEWPs
- Overhead Gantry Cranes and Slinger/Signaller Duties
Training for Managers and Supervisors
The review may identify a need beyond operator training.
Managers and supervisors may require enough knowledge to recognise unsafe practices, monitor operators and understand when further training is needed.

Training Renewal Reminders
Where agreed with the customer and permitted under the applicable privacy arrangements, GH Training may record training information and issue reminders before an employer’s planned review date.
The wording should avoid saying that training is automatically “due” or has “expired,” because forklift training does not have one universal statutory expiry period.
Recommended reminder wording:
If you choose to receive reminders, GH Training can contact your nominated business representative before the review date recorded for an operator or equipment category. Employers remain responsible for monitoring competence and arranging earlier training when circumstances require it.
Add an unticked form checkbox:
I would like information about optional training-review reminders.
Do not combine this with the mandatory privacy acknowledgement.
