Planning Training at Your Lancaster Site

Before recommending a course, we will need to understand how material handling equipment is used within your business.

Please provide:

  • Your Lancaster-area site address
  • The equipment category and manufacturer
  • The number of operators requiring training
  • Details of previous certificates or training
  • Each operator’s recent practical experience
  • Your preferred dates or working hours
  • Information about unusual loads or attachments

This helps us identify the appropriate course level and confirm whether suitable facilities are available.

Counterbalance and Reach Truck Training

Counterbalance forklifts are commonly used for vehicle loading, yard work and moving materials around warehouses or production areas.

Counterbalance Course Details

Reach trucks are primarily used to stack and retrieve palletised loads within warehouse racking systems.

Reach Truck Course Details

Each category requires suitable training. Completing a course on one type of forklift does not automatically qualify an operator to use every other truck.

What Happens During Training?

Course content varies according to the equipment and operator level but normally includes:

  • Operator responsibilities
  • Safety principles
  • Pre-use inspections
  • Controls and instruments
  • Steering and manoeuvring
  • Load assessment and handling
  • Stacking or equipment-specific exercises
  • Safe parking procedures
  • Theory and practical assessment

Successful operators receive appropriate evidence of training. The employer remains responsible for workplace authorisation and necessary job-specific familiarisation.

Facilities Required at Your Premises

The employer will normally need to provide:

  • Safe and serviceable equipment
  • The manufacturer’s operating instructions
  • A suitable practical training area
  • Representative loads
  • Suitable personal protective equipment
  • Space to conduct assessments safely

We will confirm the exact requirements before agreeing to the course.
